Space Systems Cybersecurity Workshop 2026Space Security 2026
The Space Systems Cybersecurity Workshop 2026 will focus on technologies, frameworks, and strategies for improving the cyber-resilience of space systems. This includes cyber-hardening space flight software, vulnerability analysis of space systems, and implementing zero trust cybersecurity policies into space networks. This workshop is relevant to multiple topics of interest to SMC-IT including the following: cybersecurity, advanced modeling and digital twins for onboard systems, intelligent and autonomous systems, and software reliability for mission-critical applications.
Draft, high-level schedule:
Panel 1- Secure Development Practices for Embedded Space Systems: This panel discussion of industry and academic experts will discuss their experiences with securing satellite systems from cyber vulnerabilities. They will discuss technologies, frameworks, and best practices used as well as unique challenges incurred in deploying cybersecurity solutions for embedded space systems.
Panel 2- Accelerating Cyber Readiness Through Digital Twins: This panel discussion of industry and academic experts will discuss the current state of practice in digital twins for space systems, their applications towards accelerating cyber readiness, and lessons learned from their deployments. Discussion topics may include modeling tools, cyber testing methodologies, or processes used for accelerating development with digital twins.
Panel 3- Mitigating Cyber Risk in Distributed Space Networks: As space constellations, orbital data centers, and low-earth-orbit networks continue to proliferate, space networks are becoming more distributed than ever. This panel discussion of industry and academic experts will discuss their experiences with addressing cyber risk on the distributed space networks. They will discuss technologies, frameworks, and strategies used as well as unique challenges incurred in modernizing space network cybersecurity.
