Name:Tom McCarthy

Bio:

Tom McCarthy is the Director of Business Development of Rocket Lab’s Robotics group. He was also a Co-Founder of Motiv Space Systems located in Pasadena, CA. Tom has always pursued disruptive technologies dedicated to the art of motion control, robotics and their numerous applications in space flight systems. Tom began his career as an electrical engineer at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory designing flight computing architectures and embedded motion control solutions to enable some of NASA’s most exciting exploration challenges. This involved developing avionics for roving platforms for exploring Mars, the Moon and asteroids which also included designing for operations in extremely harsh environments. Tom has since built upon those experiences to work with future visionaries interested in utilizing robotics for the expansion of commerce and servicing in space. Tom, along with his Motiv colleagues, are continually pushing the boundaries of new technology developments and applications of robotics to enable growth and partnerships throughout the industry.
